Biarritz
centre is only a few minutes away on foot. It offers many activities.
The old port of Biarritz and its famous Boulevard bustles with
pavement cafés and restaurants. Biarritz is a wonderful
beach town that shows many different kinds of Architecture. The
main building of interest is the Hôtel du Palais that was
the private estate of Napoleon III.
Every
year two festive firework events take place on the main beach,
"La Grande Plage", in Biarritz on the 14th of July and
the 15th of August.
Biarritz
has a traditional food market where local fresh products are sold;
French living has a lot to do with good food! The market is open
every morning including Sundays.
Other
points of interest are the Rocher de la Vierge, Oceanic Museum,
Fishing Port, excursions in the inner Pays Basque, Bayonne, the
Pyrenees, not to mention bullfighting, 18-hole golf courses, tennis
courts, sea-water spas, theatre and ballet.
Nearby
towns such as St Jean de Luz and San Sebastian, a mere 20 minute-drive
away, offer a great shopping experience and have a lively nightlife.
The Bilbao Guggenheim Museum is also well worth a visit.
